Strava distance and elevation

Will recorded a full circuit of the modified course on the Strava app. 3.1 miles (5 km) with a total elevation gain of 516 feet. The course profile is shown along with the map.

If you are logged into a Strava account, this link should take you to his ‘activity’: https://strava.app.link/aLNRS74a62b (Or, it is quick, easy, and free to create a Strava account. You will be shown the link for it.)

Return to NNSC main Sea-to-Ski page

Please forgive the double/confusing posting, but I see a page linked directly here for a description of the course. The following information is also found on a one-page, printable pdf: 2026 Nordic race course.

All loops are skied in the clockwise direction

Loop 1 Will be the same as always. The large mass start (500 skiers) forms up at the bottom of the big valley that points straight up the hill (7 Hills). Ski up the valley to the crest where multiple trails intersect. Turn sharply to the right and follow the trail back down towards the ski patrol hut and the start/finish area.

Loop 2 Has been shortened and modified. After finishing Loop 1 and passing by the start/finish area go up the slight incline as always.  On the crest of that small hill the grooming stops abruptly. Follow the user created tracks that are straight ahead for 50 yards. This puts you back on the groomed trail.   This section has not been groomed yet in order to preserve the snow for race day. *  Continue on that groomed trail down to a long level section. Follow the loop at the end to the right to reverse direction and go back up the mountain on the same trail you skied down. DO NOT take the left hand turn that drops down to the bottom of chair 2. The trail will be rising as it goes under chair 2 and continues up Heather until you merge with the valley you skied up in Loop 1.  Continue to the top of the valley. You will come to the same 4-way intersection where you made your first right turn on Loop 1.   Do not go left or you will be going up the downhill run.  Instead, continue straight across the crest and drop down slightly on the far side, starting on Loop 3. Follow this trail up the mountain, staying on the left side. Returning traffic will be coming back towards you on the right.

Loop 3  Follow the trail, staying on the left side, up to the large bowl just beyond the stone visitors center. Follow the trail clockwise around the bowl, then back down the trail. Stay to the left; you will see the uphill skiers that are behind you, skiing up on your right. Back at the junction of the trails at the top of the first valley, stay to the left and repeat the trail that goes down by the ski patrol hut and the finish line.

* At many places on the trail the snow currently slopes sideways.  This will be remedied by race date but must be left in place until closer to May 24.
