Manning Park, BC
This page was created in Dec. 2021 for our
club's general membership meeting, but we are leaving it up for general
information. You are invited to join our meeting: (Zoom) meeting on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. Hope
to see you then!
I've never been to Manning Park, but it's on my list! Some people do it
as a long day trip from Bellingham, but it's probably more fun to go spend
a couple of nights there. It's been a popular trip done most every year by
NNSC, often in January.
Quote from their website: "At Manning Park, Nordic skiers are invited
to explore over 60km of classic and skate ski groomed trails, and 160km
of backcountry trails. This is cross-country skiing at its finest—in
forests and valleys, with a scenic mountain backdrop."
- Manning
Provincial Park has a wide variety of activities,
including Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. It has 60 km of groomed trails.
- Location: is 40 miles east of Hope, BC; it's 116 miles from
Bellingham. Approximately 3 hours from Bellingham if all goes according
to plan.

- Driving: Google says it's 2.5 hours. It's in the mountains and it's

And bring chains. It looks like the highways are now open, after the
November, 2021 storms.
- Type of skiing: Most trails are groomed nightly for classical and
skating.
- Trail map - note:
looking at the map, it appears that there are about 15 km of trails that

long, expert trail that climbs 2500 feet up towards Blackwell Peak. Trail
