Sidecut

Often times, you will see three numbers included in the graphics of the ski. They are important and will tell you a great deal about the strengths and weaknesses of the ski design.

They refer to the width of the ski in millimeters at three places:
This describes the sidecut which will be discussed more as we progress, but broadly speaking, the more similar the numbers are, the faster the ski is, the bigger the difference between the tip and the waist, the better the ski turns.

There is often another number stamped on the side of the ski that gives the length in centimeters - see page on sizing
