Map for White Salmon Road
and Ridge Road

The White Salmon Road
cross country area is located at 3400 feet, to the south of and below the Mt.
Baker Ski Area lower lodge. It has some great views of Mt Shuksan, Ruth, Sefrit, and Goat Mountains,
and generally has snow both earlier and later than the Salmon Ridge area which
is at the 2,000 level. The White Salmon area is regularly machine groomed and
is a mix of easy and intermediate terrain. The entrance to the White
Salmon Road is just past mile post 51, located on
a sharp hairpin turn which can be very dangerous. To access, it is highly
recommended to drive an additional ¼ mile to turn around at the Mt. Baker Ski
Area entrance and then come back. Parking is limited
to 2 cars.
Ridge Road is located at the far left corner of the
parking lot at the lower Mt. Baker Ski Lodge. To
access it, you must walk down the steep embankment. The 1 mile long ungroomed
road has an unmarked connector trail that goes down to White
Salmon Rd.
Ridge Road is Easiest, but the connector should be considered Most
Difficult or even Expert. Do not attempt
this steep, rugged connection unless you are well skilled and know the
route. Parking is reserved for downhill
skiers, so you’ll need to catch a ride.
